Public transport remains an option if everyone can walk and manage luggage and the timetable and connections work. When caring for a child or helping an older relative, include each boarding, change and wait in the comparison.

A same-vehicle trip can reduce vehicle changes and repeated luggage handling; it does not mean immigration-free travel or no need to leave the car. Confirm the actual vehicle and boarding arrangement for accessibility needs. Do not assume a standard Toyota Alphard has a wheelchair lift.

Documents and border clearance

On cross-border trips, every passenger — including infants — must hold valid travel documents and whatever papers immigration requires. Check each document's validity before travelling and allow time for port clearance.

Vehicle and seating

• Child seats: provided free of charge; state the child's age and the number of seats when enquiring so they can be arranged in advance.
• Luggage space: mention prams, wheelchairs and other bulky items when enquiring so a suitable vehicle can be confirmed.
• Accessibility: tell us in advance about passengers with limited mobility so boarding and alighting can be planned.

Pacing and pick-up points

Leave buffer time on multi-stop days rather than packing the schedule tight; during holidays, MICE events and race or festival periods, book early and set off a little earlier.

For cross-border trips with children or elderly passengers, a direct ride reduces walking and transfers inside the ports; choose pick-up and drop-off points with somewhere to wait — a hotel lobby, the airport or a ferry terminal.

How to flag your needs when enquiring

Use the “special needs” field of the enquiry form to note elderly passengers, children, accessibility or child-seat requirements, together with passenger and luggage counts; the quote and vehicle assignment will reflect them.

Send the details that determine a suitable arrangement

List adults and children, children’s ages and seat numbers, luggage quantities and dimensions, whether a stroller or wheelchair folds, and any steps at pickup/drop-off. Say whether a passenger needs help transferring into a seat so the arrangement can be checked before confirmation.
